Acquisition of several microfluidic components necessary to upgrade the Biodetection Unit, consisting of a Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) Biosensor. The device available at the Unit is a highly sensitive device that allow the monitoring of biomolecular interactions in a real time label-free configuration. The optical device is based on the detection of the refractive index changes occurring in the sensing surface (i.e. metallic surface) , which in turn can be related to mass changes as those occurring as result of binding/desorption processes. Current device has two independent flow channels, which allow two simultaneous measurements. It also integrates the pumps and valves necessary for the delivery of liquid and sample injection. It is compatible for the detection of different types of biomolecules in aqueous media. With this actuation, some components will be gradually updated (i.e. the flow cell, the peristaltic pumps and the injection valves) in order to increase the automatization of current design and increase its competitivity with other models available in the market.
